Are You Growing Your Business?
I’ve never been a fan of the ‘hustle and grind’ culture, and I’m really pleased to see that it’s not as prevalent as it was a few years ago.
Yes, when you’re growing a small business you undoubtedly have to work bloody hard to make it a success. But that shouldn’t mean running yourself into the ground and not having a minute to actually enjoy life.
Sacrifice is one thing. Exhaustion is whole other ball game that none of us needs to play. 🥎
Part of the reason I’m so anti hustle-and-grind is because of my athletics background. I learnt very early that you can’t race well if you’re tired or run down. If you’re trying to fit in absolutely everything you just end up doing everything at half speed and not really succeeding at anything.
It’s still all too easy to get sucked into believing that the secret to growing your business is more hard work though, isn’t it? More dedication. More commitment. And if you’re not careful. More guaranteed burnout!
But actually, clarity of vision, a really simple action plan and efficiencies galore will help you achieve a lot more than dogged hard work with no real focus.
So, this week I thought I’d share 5 of my favourite tips to help you crack on with your business growth without teetering on the edge of burnout, misery, overwhelm and spinning more plates than a Greek waiter!
I’ve share tips about breaks, adopting a laziness mindset, seeking simplicity, prioritising your own business, and ditching the hustle and grind mantra.
I know this stuff can seem trivial when you’re focusing on sales, and marketing and delivering to customers, and 8 bazillion emails, what’s apps and social posts. But actually, this is the most fundamental layer to becoming a success in your business.
Some people are built to work like a loon and thrive that way. 95% of us don’t though and recognising that is the first step to success.
So have a nosy at this week’s video and let me know which tip rings the loudest bell for you. 🔔
