Do You Control Your Cash Flow?
I’ve had really juicy conversations with 2 different clients this week about their financial targets, and about the things they need to put in place in their businesses to help them hit those goals. I love exciting conversations like that about possibilities and opportunities. Happy days!
Part of my role as their Business Coach though is to help them pin down the nitty gritty behind the big ideas and build in the kind of processes that will make everything sustainable and consistent.
And one thing I discussed with both businesses was a 12-month cashflow forecast. I know, I know, you’re already running for the hills just at the very sound of ‘cashflow forecast’ 🥴 But don’t worry, I’m not talking about 47 interlinked spreadsheets analysing a stack of acronyms that nobody actually understands anyway.
What I’ve seen over my coaching years though, is that getting to grips with your finances can be a seriously pivotal moment. For many people, it’s the step away from winging it to actually feeling like a grown-up business owner who knows what you’re doing.
Having financial clarity is like switching the light on in a dark office and finally understanding what your next few months will look like. It’s quite the revelation, I can tell you!
With anything like this, it’s always about finding what works best for you (some people genuinely love those 47 interlinked spreadsheets, I kid you not!) And it’s less about detail and perfection, and more about creating something simple, workable and relevant for you. You don’t have to love financial management to fall in love with the money side of your business!
Imagine never being surprised again by a bill that you’d forgotten about though. Or constantly having a plan for how to pay all your tax bills so HMRC can stay well away. How joyful would that be?
So, as always, have a nosy at this week’s speedy tips video for more advice on what to build into your own 12-month money plan and how to keep it simple and practical.
If you need help with any of this, you know where I am. I’m always happy to jump on a zoom call for a chinwag about how I might be able to support you so feel free to get in touch.
