Do You Have A Growth Plan
Mirror mirror on the wall – who’s the fairest of them all?
OK, let’s start that again because I’m pretty sure you know that these emails are NEVER about beauty, vanity or visuals!
But they ARE (hopefully!) about practical, useful business tips to help you in your quest for global domination.
So, let’s talk about reflecting and why that’s such an important part of your business’ growth plan.
It’s a subject I harp on about quite a lot, especially at my quarterly Rocket-powered Planning Days. Because taking the time to look backwards before you start to flesh out your plan to go forwards is time that’s massively well spent.
I know it doesn’t always feel like that though. Sometimes looking backwards feels like a frivolous waste of time, or self-indulgent guff! I mean, who’s got time to waste going over old ground when you have 86 bazillion things you still want to achieve?
The truth is that most of the lessons about what you need to do more of (or more importantly to STOP doing) are found by reviewing what you’ve already done, rather than just diving in and taking a punt on what you think you ought to do instead.
Taking the time to review your recent successes, challenges, achievements and cock-ups will almost certainly remind you of a stack of things you’ve achieved that you’ve already forgotten. Plus, it will remind you of things that went well that you’ve skimmed past and were about to forget to repeat.
Reflecting adds stability and clarity to your growth plan. It helps you plan based on facts and reality rather than on hope and speculation.
So, watch this week’s vlog for my favourite tips about how and when to review your recent progress.
