Business Networking Tips
The cycles of business are always intriguing, aren’t they?
A few years ago in what I’m now hearing people call LinkedIn’s ‘golden days’ there was a real push in some circles to ditch business networking and focus on social media. After all, why would anyone waste 2 hours of their life, and actually leave the house so you could speak to a measly 15 people when you could stay at home in your trackies, and jump on LinkedIn to speak to 3000 people online in 15 minutes?
But now I’m seeing that shifting back. The good old algorithm is driving people nuts, the online conversations have died a death, and many people are craving more genuine human connection.
Business networking is back!
Of course, as an avid networker who co-hosts 2 successful independent networking groups, I don’t believe the benefits of networking have ever gone away.
For me networking is one of the most reliable, enjoyable and supportive ways to build your business.
I totally understand though, that some people struggle to see the benefit. I know lots of people who’ve tried a handful of meetings that they’ve found really awkward and would rather poke their own eyes out than go again.
But I’m such a believer in the value of business networking that I wanted to share some of my favourite tips this week to help you enjoy it more AND generate better results from your own networking. 💰
Because it’s a goldmine when you get it right!
You might be surprised to know that my tips don’t include anything about perfecting your pitch or creating great offers to talk about. Honestly, those are the trivial bits.
Instead, my tips will help you to focus on building genuine connections, creating a real feeling of reciprocity with a group so you all want to help each other, ditching the sales pitches, and following up properly so you make the most of the opportunities.
I’d love to hear your own networking stories so please hit reply & tell me about your own experiences. I do love the occasional networking horror story! 🤣
