Growth Plan
Most business owners will tell you they want their business to grow. But what does that actually mean?
More turnover? More profit? More customers? A bigger team?
Perhaps what you really want is financial security, more freedom or simply a business that works better for the life you want to lead.
The problem with growth for the sake of growth is that there’s very little to keep you motivated when implementing your plan gets difficult. And there will always be another impressive-sounding target you could chase, whether that’s six-figure months, £1m turnover or whatever else you’re currently being told a successful business is supposed to look like.
Before you start creating a growth plan, it’s worth getting really clear about what success actually means to you and, crucially, why it matters.
And that doesn’t mean limiting your ambition. You can build a significantly bigger and more profitable business without becoming someone you don’t want to be. You get to decide whether you employ people, what you charge, how many hours you work, who you work with and what values your business embodies. That’s all in your remit!
In this week’s video, I explain why finding the personal purpose behind your growth goals is such an important first step in creating a business growth plan you’ll actually want to implement.
