Time For Some Reflection?
Merry Christmas from Gran Canaria! 😎
I hope you’re managing to take some quality time away from your business to recharge your batteries and spend time with your nearest and dearest.
My VA always asks me at this time of year whether I want to send an email out every week or to take a break, and I always opt to keep sending them for two reasons …
Firstly, because, apart from the networking group I host, this is the one thing I always manage to stick to all year. Everything else goes to pot at various times of the year when things get too busy, but this is like my central thread that keeps my business sane!
And secondly, because I know this is classic catch-up time when the inbox is finally under control and all the ‘stuff’ you’ve been getting around to for the whole year finally get the dust blown off it and it get the attention it’s been craving all year.
And who knows, maybe you’re bored of soggy sprouts and ancient re-runs of James Bond and you’re just crying out for something interesting and insightful to read. I can’t promise that of course, but let’s have a go! 😁
So … what better topic to talk about at this time of year, than reflecting on your successes and your lessons from this year.
There are aways a billion people at this time of year geeing you up and talking about your goals for next year, and about how to 10X everything and take over the world. But I think most of those articles, posts and ideas miss out the first, critical step.
Because before you can plan your next steps to global domination I believe it’s crucial that you invest some time in looking backwards and reflecting on how the year has gone. Reflection is the best way to build the foundations of a growth plan, and without investing that time to reflect, your growth plan will lack a lot of the fundamental knowledge that it really needs.
I know it can seem like a frivolous use of time, especially when there’s never enough of that while you’re building your business. But honestly, it’s time that’s incredibly well spent and hugely valuable.
It’s critical that you get clear about what’s working well at the moment – where are your leads coming from, which services are bringing in the majority of your revenue, which customers are getting the best results etc. Because those are things that should be some of the first things that go back into your growth plan.
And equally important is to identify things that aren’t really working for you right now. Which customers are a pain in the proverbial? Which marketing is falling flatter than a pancake? Where are you wasting time on stuff that doesn’t deliver value?
This knowledge is part 1 of your next growth plan so it’s all really juicy stuff!
I’ve shared more tips about exactly how to reflect on your year in this week’s video and given you a series of handy questions you can work through, so please take a look and pin down all the brilliant basics of your 2025 growth plan.
Of course, if you’d love to develop a growth plan for 2025 but feel slightly bamboozled about how to go about it, I’d love to help you. Send me a message and let’s book in a call.
