The Art Of Conversation
When your phone rings do you get excited about who it might be and look forward to an interesting conversation?
Or do you wonder who’s had the audacity to interrupt your day and try and steal your valuable time. An actual phone call – how very dare they?
We’re definitely becoming a nation that would rather use things like messages or email than conversation. It’s easier to keep people at arm’s length that way isn’t it? You can control your time, deal with what you want to and palm everything else off until later, surely?
But what if … by avoiding conversation you’re losing out on connection, relationships, and even money in the bank??
What if your attempts to save time by sending a quick message instead of picking up the phone are stealing more time that they’re saving and shooting you in the foot?
And what if avoiding those conversations is actually losing you business? 😲
I’ve been talking a lot recently (nothing new there I know!) about the dying art of conversation, and the invisible damage that’s doing to so many businesses. Because avoiding conversation makes it so much harder to develop real connections with people. And without that depth of connection, they’re much less likely to decide to buy from you; or to stick around as long once they do.
There’s every chance that if you’re not speaking to enough people, you’re also not finding enough new clients, and you’re probably not hanging onto your current clients as long as you would if your connections were deeper.
Which is why this week’s video talks about the importance of conversation and explains 3 massive ways that speaking to more people could help you build better connections, take on more clients, save yourself time and get rid of misunderstandings and assumptions.
And what’s not to love about that lovely little lot?
So please take 6ish minutes to watch this week’s video. Maybe challenge yourself to pick up the phone afterwards and speak to someone you’ve been meaning to reconnect with for a while (don’t worry though – they probably won’t answer! 🤣)
And if you know that you need to build better connections, and you’d love to find new clients get in touch to arrange a chinwag so we can talk about how I can help with all of that.
