Winning New Customers
I don’t know about you but I’m already missing the Olympics. I would literally glue myself to the TV and watch every minute of the coverage if I possibly could.
When else do you get the chance to watch rowing, kayaking, diving, swimming, taekwondo, beach volleyball and trampolining in the space of an hour? Utterly epic!
It’s always really fascinating to watch the psychology of the athletes. You see some who are calm, quiet, totally focused and shutting out everything around them. Then there are the others who are strutting around like a possessed peacock and trying to reek of confidence, so they’ll intimidate the rest of the field.
It makes me smile when I think of the contrast with so many small business owners who would rather run a mile (not an Olympic real mile, obvs!) than show off how good they are. The idea of being outwardly confident or animated about how good they are is terrifying to so many people.
And yet confidence in business is a REALLY attractive trait.
It’s NOT cocky and arrogant. It’s essential!
Because when you show confidence, your potential customers are far more likely to believe that you’re good at what you do, and therefore want to buy from you.
But I talk to so many people who cringe at the idea of sharing testimonials because they think they’re ‘showing off’. Your Mum has a lot to answer for on that one! 😂
The irony though is that, just like an Olympic athlete, you showing confidence in what you do isn’t about how it make YOU feel or think. It’s about how it makes your potential customers feel or think.
It’s not actually about you at all. It’s about them!
Sharing your success stories can often be the difference between a potential customer wondering whether you can help them with what they need, and them being convinced that you’ve helped others just like them so you MUST be what they need!
And the great thing is, that it doesn’t have to be sharing screen shots or quoting exact feedback. There are lots of ways to share client stories that will seriously help your potential customers to trust you enough to want to work with you.
And I’ve explained 4 of them in this week’s vlog. That’s handy isn’t it! 😀
