Sales Without Being Pushy
Have you ever had a great conversation with a potential client, only to feel awkward at the point of asking them to move forward?
Did you bottle it??
If you did, you’re not alone. For many small business owners, this is where sales start to fall apart. Not because you’re bad at what you do, but because you don’t want to come across as pushy. So you hold back, over-explain, or leave things vague.
The problem is, that hesitation creates uncertainty. And uncertainty rarely leads to a decision.
In this video, I explain why making a clear recommendation isn’t pushy, it’s professional. If you’ve taken the time to understand someone’s needs, it’s your job to show them exactly how you can help and what that looks like. That clarity builds confidence and makes it far easier for them to decide.
A key part of this is talking through your offer in the meeting itself, rather than defaulting to “I’ll send you a proposal”. When someone is emotionally connected to the conversation, they’re far more open and engaged. Once they’re left to review something on their own, the focus often shifts to logic and price.
You’ll also need a simple way to explain your services clearly and succinctly. This isn’t about lengthy proposals or complicated documents. It’s about guiding someone through a relevant solution in a way that’s easy to understand and easy to say yes to.
Most importantly, you need to ask if they’re ready to buy. Clearly and directly.
Because a vague “maybe” helps no one. A clear answer, even if it’s a no, allows you both to move forward.
If you want to improve your conversion rate, this is a great place to start.
