Do You Feel Pushy
I saw a post in a local Facebook group a few days ago from an oven cleaning company running some special offers. (Clearly that’s code for offering discounts but I’m struggling to even type the word! 🤢)
You might be surprised to know that it wasn’t the price that most frustrated me about the post. What frustrated me most is just how bad this company are at running a business!
You see, I’ve used their service 3 times. They’re brilliant! They use lovely eco-friendly products which also miraculously don’t need scrubbing through to Australia.
But they never ever ever follow up with me. 3 times I’ve booked them on a cheap deal through Facebook. But let’s be honest, once they’ve gone, I can’t remember the name of their business (no space for that in the already overloaded brain) so when my oven is ready for it’s next glorious make-over I’d happily pay full price if they sent me a nudge. But they don’t. So, I wait until they’re offering silly prices on Facebook again and back they come. 🤷♀️
And that’s what this week’s video is all about, really.
Because we’ve all been there haven’t we? Interested in buying something but the company never get back to you, or they put the onus on you to have to do the work of reaching out when you’re ready. But we’re all too busy for that aren’t we?
And yet, when it’s your own potential customers it’s sooooo easy to talk yourself out of following up. Because you don’t want to be pushy or salesy. And they said they wanted some time to think about it so you’re just respecting that. You just don’t need to give them the rest of their natural lives to think it through!
It’s so easy to think that the gap in your business is caused by a lead problem — that you need to market harder, get more enquiries, share more offers. But often the real issue is much simpler. Plenty of people are already interested… you’re just not sticking with things long enough to help them to say yes.
Sometimes that’s because you don’t follow up. Sometimes it’s because you’re just too nice (because you’re desperate not to be pushy) so you’re too vague and waffly instead of showing confidence and clarity. And sometimes it’s because you’re trying so hard to prove yourself that you forget to just listen.
If you’re getting enough enquiries but not converting them into clients, this one’s definitely worth a watch. It’s only five minutes, and I’ll walk you through four of the most common reasons people don’t say yes — and what you can do about it. Happy days!
I promise there’s no talk of pushy sales tactics and no fancy funnels — just a few simple things you can tweak to turn more interest into income, straight away no delay!
