Attract more clients
I don’t know about you but my efforts to attract new clients seem to revolve around sunny meetings in beer gardens right now. This weather is so gorgeous it’d be rude not to, wouldn’t it? 😎
That’s one of those questions that almost never goes away isn’t it … How do I attract new clients? Especially when you don’t have a huge budget to spend on ads or marketers to help you.
It’s something I’m regularly talking to clients about, and the feeling so often is that the only way to attract new clients is to do more and more and more marketing until you’re more exhausted than my currently wilting strawberry plants! 🥵
Which is why this week I wanted to help you focus on some embarrassingly simple marketing ideas that take a little (but not too much) effort, and maybe a smidge of budget but not bazillions!
Because the truth is that so often the best results come from going back to basics and doing the simple (and cheap) things well.
I often think back to one of my very first clients. The first time I visited her office there was a mahoosive pile of proposal style documents on her desk and when I asked her about them it turns out they were all quotes she’d issued to potential clients. None of them had turned into customers at that point. But half the reason for that is because she’d never followed up with them.
EVER!!
She didn’t have time to do that because she was so busy doing more marketing so she could generate more leads. So, she could send more quotes. Which she would never follow up!! 🤦♀️
Now I’m sure you’re reading this and thinking ‘what a dimwit’ (or worse) but I bet if I asked you about your last 10 prospects there would be several that you know you should’ve followed up with but haven’t. Because you don’t want to be pushy do you?
So, this week’s first tip is to get back in touch with previous clients and with prospects who didn’t quite get around to becoming customers.
Because these people are literally gold dust for your business. There is soooo much untapped potential in that group that’s just waiting for you to help them to buy from you.
The other tips in this week’s video are to make sure your friends and family actuallyknow what you do. Because you’re probably assuming they’re not interested, don’t care or just wouldn’t understand. But think of all the people they know and how easily they could spread the word if they actually understood. And if they realised you’re looking for new customers (because you probably haven’t told them that either have you?)
And tip 3 is to get out from behind your desk and go networking.
Yes, I know you can talk to 86 bazillion people on LinkedIn rather than 15 at the local golf club but I firmly believe the relationships you create in-person are a billion times more valuable than the more trivial relationships you develop online. And that connection is what brings referrals.
There’s a lot more explanation of why each of these tips is so brilliant for your business, plus some specific ideas on exactly how to implement each one inside this week’s video, so take 5 minutes now to watch, and if you try one of these this week, I’d love to know how you get on.
