Prospects Ghosting You?
I have a confession to make!
This is the fourth day this week that I’ve written an action on my daily to do list to follow up with 2 really good prospects.
Why aren’t I just cracking on with it?? Well, that’s simple – it’s because I didn’t follow my own process. I have reminders and very clear processes for how frequently I follow up with prospects. That means I don’t have to think about or worry about whether I’m pestering, or pushy.
But if I don’t stick to my process then I’m not clear about my next steps and that’s a recipe for expert level faffing!
Honing my processes also means that I don’t need to worry these days about prospects ghosting me. Because, let’s be honest, that is one of THE worst things about building a business, isn’t it?
When you’ve invested time, energy and advice into building a great connection with somebody, getting to understand their challenges and showing them that you are most definitely the perfect solution to their problem.
And then they ghost you. How rude is that? 😤
Not to mention the amount of time you’ve now wasted. Aaaaand the turmoil of trying to decide whether to follow up again or just let it go.
I mean, surely they’d have got back to you by now if they were interested wouldn’t they?
But then again, we’re all really busy so maybe they’re still keen but they’re just snowed under? 🤯
Either way, if they had the basic courtesy to reply to JUST ONE of your messages then we’d all be wiser, you’d know what to do and everyone could stop wasting their time and brainspace!
Infuriating, isn’t it?
Well yes, but there are a number of things you can put in place in your business that will massively reduce the chances of this happening. I won’t promise you can rule it out completely because sometimes people are just genuinely snowed under. And sometimes they’re rude!
But you can definitely reduce the chances of it happening significantly, and you can do away with the stress and uncertainty of trying to decide whether or not to follow up or to write it off.
